SATURDAY
I had the amazing opportunity to speak on a career exploration panel at Navigating the Next, an incredible event hosted by Kennedy Ekezie at the University of Lagos. I live and breathe social media strategy and brand storytelling. So, my mission was to tell my story. Events like this light me up. I've walked this path with limited guidance and blindfolded, and if sharing my story can help others see more clearly, well, that's an immense reward.
Others don't have to go through what you go through. You can light the way for others by sharing your stories. Lived experiences are lessons for others.
SUNDAY
My Sundays are non-negotiable. I have to get myself right for the week ahead and nothing…and I mean nothing comes between me and my Sundays. I reflect on how the week went, I guage my feelings, my intentions and things that went really well and not so great. I take a look at my weekly goals and review what I got done and what I failed to accomplish. I give myself a performance percentage and map out next week’s goals and intentions. I also set a theme for the week, like a mindset I want to adopt or focus on for that week.
MONDAY
I call Monday my Vietnam War. It is the most stressful day of the week for me. So many meetings, approvals, check-ins, tasks…I just can’t. This was me trying to keep it all together
Once I was done with work, I shared the last article I wrote: Your essence is enough to open doors on social media, reflecting a bit on little Tutu and how she has come such a long way from being scared to be herself
I also received a DM from someone about a previous article, this one 👇🏽
TUESDAY
Tuesday I woke up fully clothed, makeup on, and phone in my hand. I went out for drinks last night and must have passed out…😬
It was a rainy day in Lagos…the best time if not that it means traffic, no network, internet lines down and everything in-between but yeah, loved it. I found a song that matched the occasion :)
I had to jump up and get ready, I had to go cheer my friend on as he was building a set for a new show coming soon. He’s the Production Manager. So proud of him!
We were on set for most of the day. I was with Bisola, the Head of Content at my company and we spent the day together, working, talking and just using the time to come up with ideas for clients.
I don’t know why food makes me happy these days. I think it’s because I don’t pay attention to the fact that I hardly eat. So when I see food, I get so happy.
And then I was told there was a public holiday tomorrow. I laughed in entrepreneur…I did not even realise there was anything like that.
WEDNESDAY
Today was the imaginary public holiday, and I was in a meeting throughout. I have been working on a really important project. I have been building a tool. I guess I am about to launch a startup and it is going to be centered around digital professionals.
It has been over a year for me to pitch, ideate, go to school, build the features and functionalites and learn about the tech industry, their lingo, and how (crazy!) they are.
But we now are in the design and development stage!!! I can see what it is going to look like and my heart started to beat! This meeting was them telling me that it is time to start talking about it, to let the world know and to fully step into the role as Founder. I started to shake, this means I have big life decisions to make.
The Yoruba in me says I should wait until the app is ready then announce, but I was told that’s not how things work in tech, and I have to start sharing my story, the journey to building and developing it, have a roll out plan and build a waitlist.
*Internal heart palpitations*
This was a meeting that shook up my week.
But I was ready. This is something I have nurtured for a year, working on it, learning about things…I am more than ready to share this with the world and share my journey to building this idea.
THURSDAY
Thursday was meetings…I was drowning in them. It was all about making core decisions that will shape the instructions from yesterday (remember? 👆🏽)
I am stepping into this new phase in my life, this new chapter, with a completely new storyline, but the last year and a half have prepared me for it. Super exciting times…
FRIDAY
We’re back to playing tennis! After a month running away from Coach Henry (my tennis coach), battling major sunburn and aching joints, I returned for more suffering 🙃
I started working on this piece late last night. I still had no idea what I wanted to write about, I panicked and decided to share my week with you
SATURDAY
Woke up to thunderous rain…glorious. Today was all about my sister and I. We spent a wholesome day together and had lunch (which was fantastic). My sister lights up my world, I’m obsessed with her!
I am determined to enjoy the long holiday this time and remember we said in June, we are having more fun!
I have been doing well so far…I think…
So, this weekend…I’m going to have a great time!
I hope you had a great week, and what do we think about this? Recurring series? Or nah? Lemme know
Thank you for reading! 🧡
I love, love this piece! I’ve just been inspired ✨
